Giovanni Cerri is an Italian artist living and working in Milan. Cerri, born in 1969, is the son of painter Giancarlo Cerri and much like his father Giovanni's work has always centred around painting.
Cerri is inspired by the urban landscape; a theme developed from the direct observation of his city of Milan. He is particularly interested in industrial archaeology, the architectonic relics of an age which is disappearing. Between 2001 and 2009 he has painted on newspaper to underline the contemporary time through fragments of news, politics, economics and sports.
He has exhibited his work in Italy and abroad in Croatia, Germany, France, China, Bolivia, the USA and Canada.
